Backdrops for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers BackdropsSeven Brides for Seven Brothers takes place in the 1850s in the Oregon wilderness. The story revolves around Adam Pontipee, a rugged country man, who goes to town looking for a bride to marry and to take care of him and his six brothers. He meets Millie in a restaurant and convinces her to marry him. Millie is ecstatic until she realizes Adam isn’t the only man she will have to care for. She then desires to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage. Millie convinces her new brothers and Adam to attend a barn raising social. The brothers meet and fall in love with a group of women there who are already spoken for. Unfortunately Adam tells his brothers to do like the Romans did with the Sabine Women and just take the girls. The brothers end up kidnapping the six women hoping to make them their brides, causing an avalanche so the town folk cannot follow them. Millie is furious with both the boys and Adam. Adam leaves and heads to the trapping cabin. During the winter, both the boys and girls pine for each other, and in the spring love abounds. Millie gives birth and Gideon, the youngest brother goes to tell Adam, but Adam refuses to return. As the snow melts, Adam and the townsfolk both arrive at the farm, the couples are all married and there is happily ever after. |
