The egotistical performer and director Fred Graham is reunited with his ex-wife Lilli Vanessi in the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate in Taming of the Shrew. Throughout the show they fight and obviously still love each other. Meanwhile, due to mistaken identity, two gangsters harass Fred for a gambling debt in the amount of $10,000. The debt actually belongs to Bill Calhoun, another member of the cast, who is dating Lois Lane, the actress Fred is paying a lot of attention to. The gangster's hold Lilli hostage for the debt but release her once they here that their boss has be deposed. Lilli leaves before the end of the show, but returns to finish the play. Petruchio and Katherine are reunited!
