Backdrops for Bells Are Ringing Backdrops

Bells Are Ringing centers around an old-fashioned answering service that is struggling for business. Sue, the owner, starts dating the sleezy Sandor. He ends up secretly using her business as a front for illegal activity. Meanwhile, Ella, Sue's cousin and employee, falls in love with one of her phone clients, Jeff, a playwright - even though she has never met him. At a nightclub, Jeff meets up with some fellow subscribers and they all realize that they owe their lucky breaks to Susanswerphone. Before the police come in and shut the operation down, Ella is re-united with Jeff and we have a happy ending.
